In India, alcohol abuse is a significant public health concern. The pattern of alcohol use is not uniform in a complicated country like India, in any case. There are some states, like Gujarat and Bihar, where alcohol usage is completely prohibited. Still, in other places, the percentage of people who drink alcohol is above 75%.1. There have been reports of greater alcohol use in India's rural, tribal, and underprivileged areas. According to a National Nutrition Monitoring Bureau report, 3.5% of rural women and 28.4% of rural males used alcohol in rural areas.2. Alcohol abuse is a serious health concern in some Indian tribal cultures. Tribals and racial minorities frequently have less access to and understanding of health. (Ray et. al,2018). According to NFHS5, Chhattisgarh is one of the states with high consumption of alcohol, with 34.7 % of men consuming alcohol.

Alcohol support groups are places where people can get guidance and encouragement for their addiction recovery. Support groups offer a secure environment where people may talk openly and honestly about their alcohol use disorder and any difficulties they may be having. People in these groups can learn coping mechanisms and techniques to help them avoid relapsing. According to experts, self-help groups like alcohol support groups can aid in recovery by enabling people to express their emotions. A dependable source of guilt and shame for people in comparable circumstances. Support groups can also aid in lowering substance usage, fostering participation, and boosting a person's confidence in their ability to continue abstaining from substances, according to research.

This study is an attempt to understand the journey of the alcohol de addiction groups which has been successfully functional since a few years and based on the study to frame guidelines to form new initiatives. The following research was carried out in eight villages, namely Jakarbandha, Katami, Samardhasan, Surhi, Atariya, Danganiya, Boiraha and Niwaskhar in the Bamhani cluster.
